We finished reading this great article by the Guardian about the importance of trees in our cities. Often trees are viewed an afterthought especially when in the route of development, however the many benefits of trees to our urban environment are just being discovered and being found to be numerous. There are many ways to save trees when development occurs, but it does require some planning and a bit of extra cost. We may find out soon that this cost will be heavily outweighed by the benefits of protecting our trees through the construction process.
